beautiful girls

We think she is trying to smile.

Allie is also a beautiful girl. I mean look at what she allows Davis to do to her and never does a thing.
Good girl.

Gammie and Change

We took Annie to meet Gammie, her great grandmother last week. It seems like yesterday that Davis was over there for the first time and now he was walking around pulling things off of shelves and playing with her old toys.

Annie continues to do really well and has continued to have a great schedule. Davis is still trying to figure out how you "play" with Annie. I think he is confused as to why he can't play with Annie the same way he plays with Allie. Apparently he doesn't see a difference between a 65 pound boxer and a 8 pound little girl. But he is doing really well.
The other day I showed Davis Elmo on my iphone, just went to youtube and streamed a video for him right there. Well now it is all over, he is always bringing me my phone saying, "mo, mo...." which is his mix of Elmo and more. It is so crazy how times change so quickly. Just a few years ago you couldn't imagine a kid sitting around watching a streaming video on your phone.

I guess we'll have to get him his own, Apple from the beginning! Only kidding.
Happy Memorial Day.

Week One

It's been a great week first week at home. On Wednesday Demetria was able to come in town for the day and just hang out with Katie and Annie, which was great. Congratulations to them- they found out they are having a little boy! So excited about Davis and Annie having a cousin so close to them. Christmas at the Neely house will have 3 kids under 2! Muma and Poppa are excited!

One of the best things about new borns is how much they sleep. Katie has enjoyed joining Annie during a few of her naps. Annie is sleeping like an absolute champ. The last 5 nights we have put her down at 10, she eats at 3, and then is up at 7. Pretty great. Praying that she continues to be a good eater and sleeper.

Home

We have been home since Saturday afternoon and everything is going well.
You forget how much new babies just sleep, especially since Davis sleeps so little during the day.
Davis has done really well with Annie. I think the hardest part for him is that Katie simply can't pick him up. She is doing a great job of getting down on his level and playing with him, but we think he is noticing that he hasn't been picked up.
Annie had her first doctors appointment yesterday and everything looked good. She has put back on some of the weight that she lost in the hospital and everything else looked good.

Our neighbors across the street brought us some roses which have bloomed beautifully.

Day 3

I have plenty of time at the hospital to upload photos, I hope you enjoy.

Annie continues to do really well and so does Katie. It looks like we will be going home from the hospital on Saturday afternoon. We had a great day on Friday with a steady flow of friends and family. God has been so generous to surround us with such loving friends and family. I wish it was possible to put up all the pics.

Davis had a great day on Friday. Muma and Poppa took him to the zoo for the first time and he really enjoyed the experience. Apparently giraffes, elephants and chimps were some of his favorites. After the zoo he was able to come and spend a good 2 hours here with us and Annie. He did really well and spent more time acknowledging Annie.

I love this one.

Davis did still time to play. He loved the balloon that Grandmommy and Granddaddy brought to Annie.
Still amazed at how small Annie seems.

Doing Great

Annie has done great so far.
Everything is regular, she is eating well and resting well.
Katie is up and walking around, had a shower and is feeling good.
I ...wait you probably don't care what I did. only kidding, the couch/bed is awesome.

Davis stopped by for about 45 minutes and did really well. He met Annie and touched her nose, but then was quickly drawn away by the gadgets, candy, buttons, etc... He is such a good little guy.

Last post of solo Davis

So here we are...

Just final details today.
Davis is wearing navy shorts and a yellow oxford today... many say "Like Father like son." I could only hope to look this good.

48 Hours

48 hours is not much time.
In that amount of time we will be a family of 4.
Yesterday we rearranged some of the furniture to get the swing and other infant stuff out. It's funny to see Davis walk up to a swing that he used to fit in and now dwarf it, just a visible reminder of how quickly Davis is growing.
Things to pray for over the next 2 days:
- Nurses at the hospital
- Doctors, Dr. Myers doing the C section, the anesthesiologist, etc...
- Katie's health
- Davis and his sweet spirit.
- Rest

48 hours doesn't seem like much time, until I realize that jack bauer could save the world TWICE, before Annie arrives- I'm so lame.

Final Friday Breakfast

We finished our final Friday Family breakfast as a family of 3.
We chose Gourmet Market for a couple of reasons:
1. One of the few places in Knoxville that doesn't "feel" like Knoxville.
2. Amazing coffee
3. Goat Cheese Eggs
4. Coffee is good
5. Hadn't been in a while
6. Davis asked for it.

One of those is not true, but the rest are.

We went to Wasabi with my parents last night for Mothers Day because they are going to Kansas for the weekend to be with Kristin. Isn't Wasabi where everyone goes for Mothers Day?
Little inside info- you can sit at the Sushi bar and order the full menu. Same great food, but you don't have to wait on all the show.
We found out that Davis likes Sushi. I mean he was killing it! We did take out the shrimp on the inside because he isn't supposed to have shellfish yet, but the rice, seaweed, fish eggs, salmon he was destroying. We love that Davis likes all kinds of food. We definitely don't think he will be one of those kids that will only eat cheese pizza or burgers. Davis will take the sushi.

I've decided that I am a yo yo. Up and Down. Up and Down. Or perhaps that is how the body works.
Anyway this week I was down 2 pounds! I didn't exactly meet my goal of 10 pounds before Annie comes, unless of course I lose 4 pounds this week, but I am still happy about this week.
This is probably the last BabyFat update since Annie comes next week.
Since BabyFat began in October I went down 36 pounds and I am happy that it was a slow, hopefully maintainable, loss.

Have a great weekend.

Happy Baby

So one week to go! Unbelievable.

Katie had a doctor's appointment this morning and at the end he said, " Ok, we'll see you in a week and have this baby, unless she comes early."
It is so hard to believe. There is no doubt that this pregnancy has flown by compared to Davis.
Last night we went to Big Ed's pizza, delicious, with Katie's ladies small group. Afterwards we went to Devon and Erin's house where the group had a surprise baby shower for Annie. We got some really cute stuff.
Tonight the Pastor's wives here at Fellowship are taking Katie to dinner for a shower as well. It is so great to be surrounded in so many different communities that love us so well.
I saw this video on Facebook and only hope that Annie is this light hearted.

Loving Life

Needless to say much more than, "Davis was loving life at this point."

Note: Dad/JC was not home when this happened. But I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have stopped him anyway!
