Baby Fat

I reached my goal!!!

30 pounds down. It took me 18 weeks which averages out to a little over a pound and a half a week.
I feel good.
A few things that have changed are definitely baggier clothes, 3 loops in the belt and very encouraged in the last couple of weeks.

Here are a few pics of around when i began and now.

Before- ouch

Now- this is just with my computer camera so not the best pic, but it will work for now

So I reached my weight goal, but originally I said I would take 30 weeks to lose the weight until Annie arrived. We still have 12 weeks until Annie's arrival so I am going to continue to push myself and see what else we can lose until May.
We'll keep you posted.

question of the day

"Is Davis walking yet?"
My answer has become, "He's taking steps." I would saying walking is putting multiple steps together in an effort to reach a desired destination. Right now Davis is taking steps which may or may not put him at his desired destination. You can tell he is loving learning to walk though, he will let go of the couch, chair, leg, whatever, and look around smile real big, take a step or two, sit down and smile and laugh.
It's really fun.
I think he is getting a lot of motivation from Allie. Recently he has loved to watch her fly around the backyard. If you've never seen Allie full out sprinting across our back yard it is somehting to experience.
This picture is what you see of Davis a lot now, "I'm outa here!"
We are thankful that many of the times you will find him back in his room, he loves his room, playing with his books. But of course there are other times he decides it would be much more fun to empty the trash in the bathroom!

Katie has a doctors appointment today for Annie, 28 weeks, you must be kidding me.
We did switch the house up some this weekend. We emptied what was the guest bedroom and will now be Annie's room. We put the guest bedroom furniture in what used to be a study/Allie's room. I'm pretty sure Allie is still claiming that room as hers and the guests will just have to share. We'll put up pics soon.

Day off and Baby Fat

Friday are great days for us.
Katie and I both have the day off and it is always a fun "family" day.
This morning we got up and made a run to Cracker Barrel.  Davis loved his eggs and biscuit.  He was also intrigued by the classic "tees in the block" game. (I'm pretty sure thats not the name of the game.)
We talked this morning about how much we love sitting at a table with family, and how we look forward to the years ahead when there will be a little girl sitting next to me as well!

This week I went down 3 pounds!
This could be (fingers crossed) the week that I reach my original goal of 30 pounds!

27 weeks

Here is how Annie is doing this week.

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Hard to believe.

Valentines Day

Last night at CollegeLife, Fellowship's College ministry, I asked the question, "Why do you love Jesus more now than ever?"
It seems like a Valentines Day question.
So many cards around this time of year have those sentiments to them,
" I love you more this year than ever before"
"on this valentines day i'm more in love with you because..."
"i didn't think I could love you more but now I see..."
You can fill in the blanks.

But it made me wonder, could this be said of my relationship with Christ- I love you now more than ever. And if so, why?

What is it about Jesus that has made me fall more in love with him than ever?
Here are some of the responses from college students last night... this is gold right here:
"traveling to Bolivia and seeing the poverty and people finding their joy in Christ alone."
"in the face of pancreatic cancer ravaging my father, Christ being sufficient"
"Christ loving me"
"Another year of all my sin, and yet he still hasn't given up on me."
"the faithfulness of my family and seeing Christ grow in our relationships"
"God's discipline this year" (i'm not making that up, a college girl actually said that!)
"Seeing God's hand in my decisions, whether is be my class schedule working out or my relationships"
"I don't know."

It was amazing to hear all of the responses and see how God is moving and continues to draw us to Himself.

It's messy to talk about our love for Christ, because there aren't neat, packaged answers when you begin to talk about a love story. But how great to find places to walk into that love story and share with others.

One of the many things I shared last night was being a father for a year has completely changed my view of the kind of love my Heavenly Father has for me.
In the midst of
MY crying
MY mess
MY disobedience
MY messed up schedule
MY shortcoming

HE loves me still.

Baby Fat and Valentines Day

I went down one pound this week. I'm not sure why, but I was a little disappointed in that, I guess I felt all week I was down more than that. But a pound is a pound. I'll take it.
5 lbs to go on the original goal.

Katie and I have decided to do nothing "special" for Valentines Day tomorrow. We are going to a bed and breakfast in 2 weekends, our Christmas gift from Demetria and Chris. We figure we will save the normal money we would spend on Valentines Day and use it on our weekend away for a nice dinner, day at Biltmore, etc...
But Happy Valentine's Day to those of you who do that sort of thing!
Chocolate covered strawberries for everyone!

100 bottles of...

Start the countdown...
We are under 100 days until Annie joins us. Wow.
I just did a quick glance back 97 days on my calendar and it was in November! Which seems like no time ago, and in that amount of time we will have another kid.
Amazing.
Here is a random pic of Davis and me watching our fixed tv. For some reason our tv got the chicken pox. Small white dots started showing up everywhere. It started out as one and slowly grew to over 40, it was pretty annoying.
But now we are good and back in clear picture.

This is NOT Davis, but thought it gave a great insight into the life of a little kid.

1st year and Baby Fat

Davis had his one year check up and everything looks great.
He weighs 26 pounds which puts him in the 90 percentile and is 30 inches long which is in the 75 percentile. So needless to say he is a healthy boy. We quit giving Davis a bottle on his first birthday and have been amazed at how easy that has been for him. We figured there might be a few times where he needed to take a bottle but he has been great.
We truly are thankful for Davis' health and are praying for Annie as she continues to develop and grow. I continue to be amazed at the gift of life.

I forgot to update last week in the midst of birthday, party, birthday party, cake, party, superbowl, etc...
But the last 2 weeks i have gone down 3 pounds total- so 1.5 each week. 6 pounds go go on my original goal.

Thanks for checking this and holding me accountable, even if you don't know you are!

25 weeks

Katie is 25 weeks today!
She had a doctors appointment today and being 26 weeks means that she starts to go to the doctor every two weeks from here on out.
Praying for Katie and Annie's health today.

Snow Days

For those of you not in Knoxville we had a rare couple of snow days on Monday and Tuesday. There are not many things I like more than a good hard falling snow. I love watching the snow fall and begin accumulating on the ground. But there is also not much I like less than the days after the snow as it begins to melt and grass begins to partially show and it just looks nasty. But I suppose like most things in life you have to take the good with the bad.

Birthday Parties

We had a great weekend of birthday parties with friends and family.
On Saturday we had Davis' first birthday with about 30 of our friends and family at the house. It is always so fun to be surrounded by family and friends. Davis, and we, are loved so well.
I will let the pics speak much louder than my words.

Of course the cake was a fun time as well.

The surprise of the day was how much Davis loved balloons. Notice the static.
