Thankfully Sad

Well it's just Davis and me again for a couple of nights.
Katie is in Memphis with Young Life for 2 nights.
Guys Night- I'm pretty sure Davis will love hot wings!

Katie and I were at the grocery yesterday and had a moment that made us very thankful and very sad.
We were standing in line waiting to check out and just talking to Davis when all of the sudden a man in the line next to us says, "How old is he?" We responded happily, "he just turned 7 months!" The man responded, "Just wait till he's my kids age and he won't be so cute anymore."
Thanks!
Have a great day!
Pleasure seeing you too!
Happy Labor Day!
What? "What till he's my kids age and he won't be so cute?"
A couple of thoughts came to Katie and I as we left.
1. We were so thankful for parents that we don't think would EVER have said that statement. Not because we were such good/cute kids, but because they genuinely loved us for who we were and are.
2. Where did it go wrong for this guy? At what point did this guy not just passionately love and cherish his kid? Was it selfish? Were his kids just crazy? I'm not judging the guy, parenting is a real challenge (and I do have a great kid), but I just wonder where he lost it?
It challenged me in many ways.
To love Davis unselfishly. To CHERISH every day, not just the days that are all laughs and giggles. And it challenged me to love HARD.
We all have things that we think we'll always enjoy, but this guy, and my experience, tells me that we must choose to love, choose to cherish and fight to keep things which are important- important! (without too much stretching I can all to easily apply this to my relationship with Christ)
Thankful for great parents.
Sad so many give up.
